You know what's crazy? You are. You're what's crazy.

Have you seen this video? Probably not. Because MTV doesn't play this type of stuff. And neither does VH1. What else is there? BET you say? Hahahaha. . .no. Sure it may be rap, but BET hasn't been black since the eighties. Lets be real. BET is a bigger sellout than even MTV. Its sad. That having been said, I present to you. . . The Mask.

Naw man. That video is not what is considered rap today. You and I both know that you can't make a rap video today without an emphasis on materialism, gold teeth and gold chains blinding you, and some good old fashioned misogyny. Nope, what you've showcased is a bona fide hip hop video. True hip hop. Of course BET wouldn't show anything like this. Remember last year when they refused to play certain videos because they said they were "to intelligent for their target audience"? And of course, the music they were talking about didn't have any of the key ingredients I mentioned before. Poor hip hop.

Hmm. Of course when people think of hip hop/rap today they think of 50 cent, Lil John... all the garbage, or as you put it a few months ago, hip-pop.

Let me stop before I get myself all worked up about the present state of music. Again.
I will say this though.

Tis (yeah that's right, tis) pretty sad when you can turn on the TV and expect to hear great hip hop, not on MTV, VH1, or BET.

But on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

The thing that really gets to me? That the genre is so polluted that the best of it is no longer considered to be that. Stupid 50 Cents.
